Vanessa Mejia attended the Colombian Chamber of Commerce inauguration gala party at Del Mar Hilton. The reporter Sandra Uribe from Univision talked about the importance of this new chamber for the San Diego community and congratulated Vanessa for her art exhibit.

Carol Lyon has a love of animals and photography, and when she put the two together, beautiful abstract art was one of the outcomes. Watch and learn how she started and the path she took to her abstract photos from bird feathers. Carol came to the photography scene four years ago. She started taking pictures at Capital of Texas Zoo where she is a volunteer zookeeper. Along the way, she became the zoo’s staff photographer. Carol joined Bastrop’s Fine Arts Guild where she has been a featured artist three times. Carol began doing juried art shows and started winning competitions. This year she has been published in collections called “Water” and “Animal Magnetism” through the Vermont Photographic Workplace, has shown at the Williams Tower Gallery in Houston, Studio2Gallery in Austin, and is represented by Austin Details Gallery in downtown Austin and the Fine Arts Guild Gallery on Main Street in Bastrop. Her work has been featured at the Lost Pines Cancer Center, McKinney Roughs Nature Park, the Chamber of Commerce, Library, and Visitors’ Center, as well as Franklin, 1st National, and Prosperity Banks in Bastrop. In addition, she has been accepted at prestigious art shows this spring like Houston’s Bayou City, Fayetteville’s Art Walk, and Rockport’s Art Festival. From fashion model to live theatre owner to teacher to today, Carol’s had the advantage of growing up surrounded by artistic mentors and the knowledge gleaned from careful observation.
