A seven minute look at how Mel McCuddin creates his unique paintings with a series of oil painting techniques where Mel “finds the image” within the abstract expressionist “underpainting” that he makes first. This process creates a spontaneity that leads to some very interesting results.

This animation is inspired by the paintings of the Belgian surrealist René Magritte. I really wanted to show what I like most about his paintings, the way of looking differently at normal things. The music is from Paul Simon.

The second video of the completed Art Gems of 2009. This video shows paintings number 16-29 and includes some of my favorites from this year so far. Disregard the credit where it says the music is from Disturbed. Warner Music Group wastes no time & this video was disabled before it even went live. So the song is from Seether. A great song BTW, I might just start using youtube’s audio swap for everything.
