A Journey into the Mind’s Eye: A Surrealistic Fantasy
A slideshow of a large number of surreal artist’s works with a variety of styles set to music. The song is “Space is Deep” by the group Hawkwind from the CD Doremi Fasol Latido released in 1972. Space is dark, it is so endless, when you’re lost it’s so relentless. It is so big, it is so small, why does man try to act so tall? Is this the reason deep in our minds? It does not feel, it does not die, space is neither truth nor lie. Into the void we have to travel, to find the clue which will unravel. Is this the reason deep in our minds? The secret lies with our tomorrow, in each of us is a hidden sorrow. The path goes onward through the night beyond the realms of ancient light. Is this the reason deep in our minds?

MEGAMICIDIALE!!
Great job.Charles, Hawkwind really start rocking along towards the end too, suits it all well.
Just look up Journey to the West in Amazon, and you should find something. I like to call surrealism G-rated Shock Value (at least when no nudity or violence is featured).
Without checking I think he painted in the 15th C; though Brueghel ‘s “Dulle Griest”(Mad Meg) and his other paintings, were what I was thinking off. Of course it was not called Surrealism, just as Freud did not discover the unconscious. I did not know what the Chinese story so that went over my head.
Thanks for enlightening me,
john
Journey to the West is an old Chinese story that definitely has surrealistic elements. It’s about 500 years old I think. Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights may be about the same age, and it’s surrealistic as well. But other examples that I can find are few and far between.
Who said Surrealism is a modern movement; though it was not called that then. Love the inclusion of Bruegel.(?) Great music, great video.
Wow I have not heard Hawkwind for many years. thanks for reminding me of them. Amazing video that lightens the heart, and sets the soul dreaming.
Really well arranged! That was MY MUSIC in the late 70ies. Music and pitures are going well together. You have an artistic and nice taste!!! Greetz from Berlin.
