@girlmachinee i think it’s just the accent…
Get real!
long live Magritte!
2:31 – 2:55 The most important dialog of the film, in my opinion.
I am doing some research on Melly at present and this has really helped. Thank you for sharing.
very good, thanks.
This man dishonors his ‘contemporaries’. I can’t imagine Magritte welcoming his company, nor tolerating his pseudo-sophisticated tastes for his surrealistic ideals.
i bet the person on the other end hung up before he could get to the second ‘ideal’ lol
I agree this man is super bourgeois
he is copying everything and idolising everyone. thats genius?
This is all frightfully sophisticated and somewhat contrived, isn’t it? George Melly shaving in the mirror and talking about surrealism? How about the Green Lady and a bit a pie and mash for working class types like me?
pure genius
I think it is E. L. T. Mesens – a Belgian surrealist who had a gallery in London after the war. Melly worked for him.
aahhh many thanks for that, I shall look him up.
I think he refers to André Masson.
who was the artist he mentioned when shaving? all I could make out was ‘messence’?
bum-bum, for this magnifique video , as a prize, you are invited for FREE to visit my paintings show. Please, you must be fresh shaved. thanks. jon
Surrealism is a very Beatlean gesture.
Surrealism is a another way to se the 21st century, through its next level.
Surrealism is a way to beauty. Open your eyes and live. Thank you. This is quite amazing.
