Rene Magritte: Surrealist

Collection of works by Belgian Surrealist Rene Magritte (1898-1967) Music by Adam Lambert, *Mad World*. Lyrics: All around me are familiar faces Worn out places, worn out faces Bright and early for their daily races Going nowhere, going nowhere And their tears are filling up their glasses No expression, no expression Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow No tommorow, no tommorow And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which Im dying Are the best Ive ever had I find it hard to tell you cos I find it hard to take When people run in circles Its a very, very Mad world Children waiting for the day they feel good Happy birthday, happy birthday Made to feel the way that every child should Sit and listen, sit and listen Went to school and I was very nervous No one knew me, no one knew me Hello teacher tell me whats my lesson Look right through me, look right through me

  14. Very interesting iris. I am familiar with those wonderful quotes. Yes, I also wonder about Magrittes passion for painting green apples.

I have read something to the effect…. the apple, in certain Magritte works, came to symbolize perpetual tension between the hidden and the visible…sustaining a sense of enigma that the painter prized above all else.

    Quite intriguing…..

  15. I’ve enjoyed discovering the magic of Magritte through you. I found these quotes of his which I find intriguing: “Art evokes the mystery without which the world would not exist.” “If the dream is a translation of waking life, waking life is also a translation of the dream.” I wonder if Magritte’s passion for painting green apples sprang from his dreams or arose from circumstances in his reality. In dream analysis, seeing green apples represents developing love or love that has yet to blossom.

  19. Big smile. Sublime perfection once again. Question: which came first, the music or the images for this mesmerizing video?? I can’t help but imagine that in some dreamlike world that they grew out of one another simultaneously. Thanks for continuing to share your creative videos.
