Knestor on Nature + Pollock

On a beautiful Southern California day, January 23, 2011, Professor Jackdaws draws the parallel between the random aesthetics of raw nature, and the work of painter Jackson Pollack.

  1. @Mr1stRobin No, no Bacon dreams, or Heironymus Bosch, either!

  2. Dear Professor: Just don’t wish me any Francis Bacon dreams. Please say hello to Jim for me because he obviously has disappeared into this character. Nice work!

  3. @gwendefortun For a moment I thought you were just copying out a section of one of the paragraphs of Joyce’s Dubliners…
In any case, you are quite welcome!
    Regards, KJ

  4. Today I was thinking about Mrs. Dalloway and how I might muster courage to write about the the peril and joy of living with others so near in my city. I also lay on the grass on a little hill at the University and saw the bright January light on passing glittering metal traffic against the green grass and reveled in my vision. Thanks Professor Jackdaws for the good laughs and the positive inclinations!

  5. So wonderful! I WAS in NY under a white blanket of snow. A VERY monochromatic palette with the painterly etchings of squirrel prints along sheets of snowy canvases.
    Thnk you yet again Knestor!

  6. I loved and embrace all you have said.
The beauty of nature is the ultimate art and
    expression of life it self!!!!!!

there’s a better copy on cc

I have a few of my own works inspired by Mr Pollock
I wanted to see what it was like to work as he did, sober of course. I found that I was completely absorbed and lost track of time altogether. I added music to the experience and was quiet happy with the results.

I wonder what he might have done with video.
