  1. @almanacofsleep I have watched the video and I still don’t quite understand. Perhaps by reading about it in books or in other videos on you tube I could get a better understanding of Surealism’s with the turbulent 1960s.

  2. @67nairb surely that is something that would be explained if you watched the video.

  3. Dada was an artistic movement as a political one. But what did Surealism have to do with the counterculture movement of the Sixties?

  4. @67nairb Yeah. My humanities professor taught nothing but the Modernist movement. “What is DADA, daDa is nothing. We want to change the world with nothing” Max Ernst (Berlin Dadaist)

  5. @SuiARevelyon Dada and Surrealism was in the of jargon and mumbo jumbo?

  6. @67nairb That is very much the in line with Dada and Surrealism. If you want to hear people a good sophist of art, listen or read Salvador Dali. He made Bull****ing intergral to art. lol

  7. @SuiARevelyon Robert Hughes speaks in alot of jargon and mumbo-jumbo which I can’t understand. But I like the way he says it.

  8. @67nairb Modern Art takes it insipiration from everywhere and nowhere.

  9. @SuiARevelyon In the first episode of SOTN modern art got it’s inspiration from the primitive sculptures of Africa.

  10. @67nairb Modern art basically created a new set aesthetics and encouraged the intermingling of arts/art cultures.

  11. great ending totally worth time

  12. Theodore Roosevelt once denounced modern art as “caveman” art and German left-wing artist George Grosz in the Twenties regarded “all art senselss unless it served as a weapon in the political arena.” I myself don’t have much of an interest in art, but I do have a fascination with propaganda art.

  13. 4:50-Hughes made mention of hobbits in this scene.

  14. @SuiARevelyon I never quite understood modern art and it’s significance on the world as a whole.

  15. Surrealism is the rejection or indiffirence to everything real. So if this is true or at least debatable, every form of fantasy (Theatre, Music, Cinema, Mathematics, Science, Religion, Airplanes, and such and etc.) is a perpetuation of the surreal. Reality is no more, rather never was because boredom exists. A bored mind is a surreal mind. Everyone is a surrealist in their own fashion because reality for better or worse fails to satisfy us.

  16. I do not agree with his conclusion. I believe quest of unconscious mind is out of time and style. No?
